Some tips for self search

Room sizes in Madrid are relatively small (
around 10 m.)

Remember that breakfast in Spain in not like in other countries. It is basically coffee or tea, with toast, a croissant, corn flakes or something similar. Do not expect a huge breakfast.

If you are staying long-term in Madrid, the best option is that you book the first month through us and then you have time to look for something by yourself. To find an apartment / flat in Madrid is not easy and it is even more difficult when doing it from abroad. Please let us know if you want to look for an apartment by yourself, so that we can provide you with some information.

Landlords will ask you for (at least) 1 month´s deposit and 1 month´s rent upfront. If you use the services of an agency, they will charge you comission to the amount of one month´s rent (in case of a whole apartment), or around 50 euros per person in the case of a room in a shared apartment. Not many estate agents provide this service (since they are more focussed on selling than on renting).

You can also try search for accommodation privately. The best places to search are local newspapers, the internet and the noticeboards at the universities. It is not unusual to have a meeting with a landlord and find ten other people waiting at the same time.

Due to the huge demand, prices in Madrid have increased in the last years. When you see something you like, do not hesitate to take it. No landlord will wait for your answer since they have enough people who are interested.
